FAQs

Do you have a question about our sessions? Then scroll down to our frequently asked questions and we may have answered it for you

  • What happens during an Explorlings session?
The Explorlings aims to provide a unique environment where children can explore and play in the outdoors. Children are given the time and space to engage in free uninterrupted play, where they can follow their own interests, take managed risks (without being and risk) and enjoy getting muddy along the way! When you arrive we will sign you in and share any information about our session or site that you may need to know. Your child is then free to explore the activities available. We usually have a craft activity available but there is no pressure for this to be completed. Towards the end of the session we will meet under the gazebo for songs and/or a story.
  • What ages are your sessions suitable for?
Our weekly sessions are suitable for children aged 5 years and under. We recommend children joining our sessions when they are walking. Younger, less mobile children are more than welcome to join but they will just rely on more support from the accompanying adult to move, access and interact with the activities. We do try to plan activities that are suitable for all ages and our tuff trays are usually all floor level. We have found that babies joining us from around 10/11 months have been able to fully engage with our sessions and have since become regular attendees at our sessions. Siblings under 12 months/non walkers can attend with a paying sibling for free. Our weekend sessions are suitable for children aged up to 8 years.
  • What is included in my ticket? Does it allow access to Amerton Farm, their outdoor equipment or Billy's play barn?
We just rent the land for our site and therefore your ticket only includes entry to our Explorlings session. If you would like to visit the animals, tractor rides, outdoor play equipment or Billy's play barn etc. then a ticket will need to be purchased from the ice-cream parlour and a colour coded wristband will be given to you.
  • Where can I find you at Amerton Farm?
Head to the courtyard area and we will be waiting to greet you. We will sign you in, share some information and once everyone has arrived we will walk through the ice-cream parlour to our site. If you are running late then usually a member of our team will be in the courtyard waiting for you (we usually wait an extra 10 minutes). If you can't see anyone then go into the ice-cream parlour and a member of the Amerton staff will direct you to our site.
  • Can I bring an additional adult with me?
We love to meet our Explorlings family and friends. Your booking will allow 2x adult to join the child or siblings. We limit 2x adults per child/siblings to ensure there is maximum play space for the children during the session.
  • Is the site pushchair or wheelchair friendly?
Yes the site is easily accessible for both a pushchair or wheelchair.
  • Are there any toilets or facilities nearby?
Yes, there are toilets and facilities located nearby and we will happily direct you to these should you need to access them.
  • What should we wear?
As we are an all weather, all year round play and stay group, you and your child will need appropriate clothing, and as you know the weather here in Britain can be unpredictable! We suggest for all sessions you will need to: Wear clothes you are happy to get muddy, messy and wet! Waterproof puddlesuits/ all in one or seperate water proof trousers and waterproof coat Wellies / walking boots / sturdy shoes Then, depending on the weather; If it is sunny: Sunhat Suncream If it is cold: Extra layers Hat Gloves
  • What do we need to bring?
We recommend bringing a spare change of clothes and an old towel to dry off wet/muddy hands. In colder weather spare gloves/extra layers and in warmer weather suncream and a sunhat. You are welcome to bring drinks and snacks for your child during the session. Please ensure all hot drinks have a lid.
  • What do you do in bad weather?
We play! There’s no such thing as bad weather…only bad clothing after all! The sessions are only cancelled in the case of high winds or heavy snow due to the risk of injury from falling branches but in rain we continue to run the sessions, the children love the freedom of playing in the rain and it creates really magical play opportunities! We do have a shelter which we use in wet weather to protect our fire circle so there’s always somewhere dry should you want it.
